Ensuring Consistent Quality of Welds

When you appoint Hanby Welding & Engineering to help with your project in Cairns or anywhere in Australia, you can trust that we know our stuff. Our welders undergo a rigorous certification process through Weld Australia. As apprentices, they start the process which involves ten certificates—each taking approximately six months to complete.

This is particularly important for welds that are performed on critical equipment, helping to ensure the safety of people, plant, infrastructure and the environment. Since these welded connections may encounter loads and fatigue during their product lifetime, there is a chance they may fall if not created to the proper quality or specification. Certified welding ensures the consistent quality of a weld to a set standard. At Hanby Welding & Engineering P/L, we have the ability to weld utilising GTAW, MMAW, GMAW or FCAW processes to AS4041/ASME 9 pressure piping, AS1554 structural steel or AS1210 pressure vessels.

The main reason behind welder qualification testing is to prove that the welder can weld to your companies welding procedure in the position specified.

Extensive Library of Weld Procedures

We know how important documentation and qualification is for our clients, particular in the petroleum industry and for those with registered plant and equipment. We have an extensive library of weld procedures already qualified and ready to go at our fingertips. If we don’t have a weld procedure in our library suitable for your application, we can develop one in house.

In general, most weld procedures are written to an Australian, ASME, AWS or ISO standard; however, we can develop a weld procedure to any standard and for any material thickness or type—including stainless steel, super duplex, titanium, CRM10, aluminium and carbon steels.
